JURY AWARDS $1.484 MILLION FOR HARLEY MISHAP

A Brick township man was awarded $1.4 million by a jury for leg injuries he received when the rear wheel of his new Harley Davidson locked up, throwing him off the bike.  The eight member panel awarded the sum to F.C. and against Harley Davidson of Trenton Inc., which serviced the motorcycle prior to the accident.  In addition to the $1.1 million the jury awarded to Mr. C, it ordered the dealership to pay his wife $110,000 and to pay his medical bills of more than $58,000.

Norm Hobbie and Dave Corrigan represented Mr. C, who purchased the bike from Harley Davidson of Trenton Inc., on April 30, 1993, and after driving it about 500 miles had it serviced, complaining to the dealership that he had noticed problems shifting gears.  The problem was never remedied, and on September xx, 1993, the rear tire locked up while Mr. C. was riding, throwing him off the bike and causing him to suffer a broken leg, four broken toes and other related injuries.
